Voices of Flint Youth Chorus is dedicated to providing equitable experiences in music to students in the Flint community. We recognize the inequalities in arts education and our devoted Board, Staff, and Volunteers are committed to doing our part to bridge the gap, so that all students have the choice of engaging in the arts.

Our Board Members
Thomas Boaz
Board President, Mr. Boaz, has spent most of his life in Flint and has seen the many changes through the years of our economy, our landscape, and our culture. Having supported the individual growth of the arts in his own family, he has a special place in his heart for arts education. As a business owner in Flint he is looking forward to the opportunity to help others in their quest for music and the arts.
Sarah LaRose - Nettell
Pastor of Calvary Community Church and Community Liaison at Bendle Middle School. Always striving to live righteously and in truth for God and others. Calvary Community Church has graciously offered their facility as a rehearsal space for the Summer Music Program.
Krissandra Gatz
Our treasurer, Ms. Gatz, has been a teacher with the Flint Community Schools for the past 28 years and has seen how the demands for standardized testing have replaced the time allowed for teachers to teach fine arts in the classroom. Many students in the public-school setting are only given 30 minutes a week to learn about music; hardly time to develop a love and appreciation for all that music has to offer. She is thrilled to be part of Voices of Flint Youth Chorus and hopes this experience will open a world of wonder for the kids of Flint.
Hannah Smith
Our Board Secretary, Ms. Smith, joins us from Kansas City, where she recently graduated with a bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. She shares in the board’s excitement for further providing music programs to Flint students!
Joseph Mosley
Mr. Mosley is an alumnus of the University of Michigan-Flint, where he studied Health Sciences and music coursework. Currently, Mr. Mosley works in local law enforcement and is completing a doctorate in Criminal Justice. He is a strong community advocate for the arts, social development and social mentorship, and has used music learning as a positive vector for connecting with the community and empowerment for our youth.
